Title: Department of Transportation recommending that the Board adopt Resolution 115-2011 to sanction the closure of Pleasant Valley Road, between Leisure Lane and Mt. Aukum Road (E-16). Additionally, road barricades will be located at the intersections of Pleasant Valley Road and Beau Val Lane, Alameda Road and Strauss Drive on Monday, July 4, 2011, between 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m., for the “Pleasant Valley 4th of July Parade,” subject to conditions set forth in Resolution No. 110-79 and conditions set forth in the “Application for Road Closure.”

Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost:  No fiscal impact or net County cost.
 
Background:
The "Pleasant Valley 4th of July Parade" is an annual event and is sponsored by the Pleasant Valley Grange.  Requested road closures are for the safety of the parade participants, children, volunteers, and spectators along the course.
 
Reason for Recommendation:
The Department of Transportation is recommending Board approval of the closure to allow for the safety and success of this community event.  Area merchants are in support of the parade (Ace Hardware, Auriga Winery, Bones Roadhouse, Grace Community Church, Hillside Hydro and Garden, Holiday Market, Pizza Factory, Pleasant Valley Pet Clinic, Pleasant Valley Store, Revamps Beauty Salon and Wonderful Chinese Restaurant).  Other involved agencies have made no objections to this closure.
 
Action to be Taken Following Board Approval:
1.      The Board Clerk to obtain the Chairman's signature on the Resolution.
2.  The Board Clerk to send a fully executed copy of the Resolution to the Department of Transportation.
3.   The roads listed in the Resolution will be closed on Monday, July 4, 2011, between 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. for the "Pleasant Valley 4th of July Parade" activities.
