Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost: There will be no change to net county cost.
Background: The District Attorney's Office has operated the Victim Witness Assistance Program since 1980. Over the last few years the number of cases needing victim witness assistance has greatly increased resulting in a greater demand for advocate involvement.
Reason for Recommendation: The Victim Witness Assistance Program serves as a resource to crime victims. The advocates funded under this grant are required to provide the following services: crisis intervention, emergency assistance, resource referral and assistance, direct counseling and therapy, claim assistance, property return, orientation, court escort, cases status/disposition, and notification of family and friends.
Action to be taken following Board approval: Certification to be signed by Board Chair with two certified copies returned to department for submission with RFA.
