Body

Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost:   There is no Net County Cost associated with this "no cost" Agreement.

Background:    The Health Services Department, Mental Health Division (MHD), on behalf of the County, is charged with responsibility of providing mental health services for persons with serious mental illness or serious emotional disturbance.

When individuals in the community are evaluated by staff at Barton, and are determined to potentially require psychiatric emergency services (PES), Barton staff may contact MHD for assistance.

This collaborative Agreement establishes roles and responsibilities of Barton staff and MHD staff when a patient at Barton requires psychiatric emergency services (i.e., assessment of status pursuant to Welfare and Institutions Code 5150), and replaces the prior Agreement with Barton (007-MHD0109) for similar services.

Compensation:   There is no remuneration between the parties associated with this Agreement.

Term & Termination:  This Agreement commences upon signature by both parties hereto, and continues until terminated by one or the other party.  Either party may terminate this Agreement in whole or in part upon seven (7) calendar days written notice.

Reason for Recommendation:   Approval of this Agreement will ensure patients at Barton who are determined to be in need of PES assessment will receive timely and appropriate care and evaluation, as appropriate.

Action to be taken following Board approval:
-  Board Chair to sign three (3) original Agreements 163-MHD0809.
-  Board Clerk's Office to return two (2) original signed Agreements to Department.
-  Department to distribute as appropriate.
