Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost:
Acquisition costs are $1,600 with title and escrow fees estimated at $1,400 for a total estimated cost of $3,000. Funding for the acquisition process will be provided by California Tahoe Conservancy Grant Funds.

Background:
The Department of Transportation (Department) is working to advance the Christmas Valley Phase 2C Erosion Control Project (Project), which is included in the Department's Tahoe Environmental Improvement Program. The Project will provide drainage improvements to enhance water quality and soil conservation by reducing erosion and sediment flow originating in the Project area in the Lake Tahoe Basin. The Project is located in the Christmas Valley area, more specifically the streets of Santa Claus Drive, Saint Nick Way, the southern most end of Blitzen Road, and Elf Lane, including Christmas Valley Unit Nos. 1 and 2.

On September 21, 2010 the Board authorized the Department to proceed with negotiations to acquire land rights necessary for the construction and completion of the Project.
