DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
On January 23, 2024, the Board approved the reassignment of the Airports program from the Planning and Building Department to the Chief Administrative Office, to be effective July 1, 2024 (Legistar file 23-2157).
On June 25, 2024, the Board appointed an Ad Hoc Committee on Airports, composed of Supervisors Thomas (District III) and Parlin (District IV) to work with staff to study airport issues, including operations, ordinance and policies, the Airports Advisory Committee, Airports Capital Improvements, Economic Development Study, and funding strategies (Legistar file 24-1090).
Staff is preparing an updated fee schedule for Airports. At this time, Airports Fees are part of the comprehensive Planning and Building Department Fee Schedule, which was adopted by Ordinance 5185. In order to remove the fees from the Planning and Building Department schedule of fees, the Ordinance must be amended.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
There is no financial impact associated with the Ordinance update. Changes to the fees, which will be brought forward to the Board at a later date, may result increased revenue to support airport operations.
