DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDATION
Information Technologies Department recommending the Board approve and authorize the Purchasing Agent to sign Agreement No. 2422 with Computer Associates, Inc. (CA) in the amount of $46,698.15 with an effective date retroactive to July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2018, for the provision of mainframe software maintenance and licensing for the xBC12 Mainframe computer.
DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
Information Technologies (IT) has been contracting for the license and maintenance of Computer Associates products since 1992. These products provide essential management and administrative tools for our mainframe system including program source code and in-house program inventory, on-line mainframe session monitoring, and mainframe database administration.
Information Technologies currently utilizes the following products in the daily operations of our mainframe environment:
CA - Librarian Source code library system
CA - RC/Query DB2 Utility
CA - Solve Access session management utilities
CA - RC/Update DB2 Utility
Information Technologies recommends the continuation of these tools which are critical to the management and maintenance of essential mainframe applications such as FAMIS and Payroll, the Property System and the Land Management Information System (LMIS). These tools are critical to the transition of the property system from the mainframe to Megabyte.
Renewal of this agreement prior to its expiration in June 2017 was inadvertently missed. CA, Inc. has issued temporary license keys to the County at no additional cost which will expire March 31, 2018.
ALTERNATIVES
The Board could choose to not approve the agreement, which would result in IT not having software maintenance and licensing for the County mainframe computer.
OTHER DEPARTMENT / AGENCY INVOLVEMENT

CAO RECOMMENDATION / COMMENTS
It is recommended that the Board approve this item.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
