Body
DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
Human Resources, in collaboration with the Treasurer-Tax Collector, recommends establishing the Business Liaison classification to support business license compliance and delinquent unsecured property tax collections. The class will provide a dedicated resource for outreach and education to the business community, investigation and follow-up of business license complaints, and specialized field collection activities.
The proposed class brings these related responsibilities together in a specialized, advanced journey-level role requiring independent fieldwork, sound judgment, and effective communication with businesses and taxpayers. The Business Liaison will coordinate with County departments and outside agencies to address compliance concerns and serve as a subject matter resource within the Treasurer-Tax Collector’s Office. The class does not exercise direct supervision over staff.
Human Resources reviewed the department’s classification request and supplemental information and worked with the Treasurer-Tax Collector to develop the attached class specification. Adoption will establish the classification and recommended salary range for future recruitment to fill the position.
ALTERNATIVES
The Board may decline to establish the classification and salary range, modify the proposal, or direct Human Resources and the Treasurer-Tax Collector to conduct additional review.
