Background: Amendment No. 4 to Agreement No. 2007-ELDO-01 allows for continuation (one year) of funding to the UC Regents for salary & benefits for 60% of a full time UC Program Representative for Volunteer Programs (i.e. Master Gardeners and Master Food Preservers). Amendment 3 was approved by the BOS for FY 2009-10. Funding for this amendment is included in the UCCE FY 2010-11 budget request. Funding is for the period of July 1, 2010 to June 30, 2011.

Reason for Recommendation: The amendment will continue the management and coordination of educational programs of the Master Gardener's (MG) and Master Food Preserver's (MFP) addressing local issues of El Dorado County residents in integrated pest management (IPM), sustainable food production, safe food preservation, food safety, water quality and agricultural and environmental literacy via phone, walk-in clientele and at numerous public events throughout the County. This agreement identifies the mutual interest in supporting and strengthening these programs and enhancing the knowledge and capablilities of the County  residents to address related issues. The County provides the funding to the University who employs the Program Representative.

Action to be taken following Board approval: The Chairman of the Board of Supervisors to sign the two original amendments keeping one signed copy and returning the other signed copy to the UCCE Department attention to Nancy Starr.
