DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDATION
Library Department recommending the Board approve and authorize the Chair to sign a budget transfer increasing revenues and appropriations by $12,010 for improvements to the County Historical Museum facility as a result of a donation from the Museums Foundation. This donation is accepted with sincere gratitude and appreciation.
DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
The El Dorado County Historical Museum was built in 1974. While the building has been maintained over the last forty years, few improvements have been made. Currently County Facilities is repairing the front entrance trellis that was damaged while the King Fire staging area was located at the fairgrounds. They are also repairing the rotted wood on the trellis on the east side of the building, installing new outdoor lights, and painting where necessary. The Museums Foundation has donated this funding to replace the chain link fence north of the entrance with a wrought iron fence that will match the south side. The parking area and street sign will also be improved providing an attractive and welcoming facade for visitors and travelers on Placerville Drive.
ALTERNATIVES
The Board could decide to not accept the donation from the Museums Foundation and leave the chain link fence in place at the Museum.
OTHER DEPARTMENT / AGENCY INVOLVEMENT
County Facilities is providing the labor and materials to make the repairs to the building and will be providing the labor to complete the fence project.
CAO RECOMMENDATION
Chief Administrative Office recommending the Board approve and authorize the Chair to sign the attached budget transfer.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The cost of the project will be covered by the donation.
