Body

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND

The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office (EDSO) applied for and was awarded funding from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Cannabis Tax Fund Grant Program (CTFGP) in the amount of $202,089.60. Final approval and receipt of these funds are contingent upon authorization from the County Board of Supervisors.

This grant will support projects targeting areas with documented alcohol-related problems, particularly those associated with alcohol-related calls for service. Funding will also support educational programs for schools and community outreach initiatives designed to reduce underage drinking. Through use of this funding, EDSO would like to continue Driving Under the Influence (DUI) saturation enforcement patrol teams. These teams will perform saturation patrols in areas with the most reports of DUIs.

If approved, the Sheriff’s Office will incorporate the appropriations and revenues from this grant into the adopted budget.

ALTERNATIVES
