DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
Supervisors Veerkamp and Parlin are recommending the Board recognize El Dorado County Fire Protection District Chief Tim Cordero upon his retirement after nearly 40 years of service to the residents of El Dorado County.
Chief Cordero began his career with the Pleasant Valley Fire District, transitioning to the El Dorado County Fire Protection District following the consolidation of the two districts. He rose through the ranks, ultimately becoming the Chief of the El Dorado County Fire District, where he led the organization through initiatives to modernize the fleet of fire engines, and a successful annexation with the Diamond Springs Fire Department. He was active throughout his career in partnering with other organizations to improve services and was a founding member of the El Dorado County Wildfire Preparedness and Resilience Coordination Group. In this role, he was a key participant in the development of the County’s Wildfire Strategy and was pivotal in ensuring the needs and perspectives of local fire districts were considered while at the same time promoting partnership, coordination and collaboration to increase wildfire resilience.
The Board is asked to approve and authorize the Chair to sign a Proclamation recognizing Chief Cordero’s outstanding service and congratulating him on his well-earned retirement.
