Body
DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
Arts and Culture El Dorado is the only organization in the County providing arts services at this breadth and scale. Their creative writing program for veterans helps reduce isolation and supports those experiencing PTSD. Their youth programs ensure that young people benefit from meaningful creative experiences. Through their Arts Incubator, emerging artists and arts organizations receive guidance in fundraising and fiscal management. Their gallery series highlights the unique character of El Dorado County, while their public art projects strengthen civic identity and share local stories. All programs and services are offered free of charge and are open to the entire community.
A funding agreement is required in order for the County to process the payment to Arts and Culture El Dorado. Approval by the Board provides the finding that a public benefit is derived from supporting this endeavor, bringing the power of arts, culture, and the creative process into the lives of El Dorado County residents, with positive impacts on health and well-being; academic growth for young people; and innovation and community.
ALTERNATIVES
The Board could choose not to approve the funding request, and no funding would be provided in support of these efforts.
