Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost
No Net County Cost. Sufficient appropriations for the purchases are included in the Sheriff's Office (SO) FY 2014-2015 Recommended Budget. The SO's Recommended Budget will be adjusted during the addenda process to add these items to the fixed asset schedule.
Background
The SO will be receiving a donation in the amount $9,250 from the DSA to offset the costs of purchasing 3 treadmills for both the Placerville and South Lake Tahoe Sheriff's Offices.
The SO provides treadmills in its staff fitness rooms in both Placerville and South Lake Tahoe for its sworn staff for maintenance of their physical fitness for duty. These fitness rooms have been outfitted with equipment purchased with various donations over the years. This generous donation from the DSA will enable the SO to have new equipment for staff.
The treadmill purchase and addition to the fixed asset list was approved and authorized by the Board at the June 10, 2014 meeting, and the restraint chair purchase on May 13, 2014. However, due to some delays in the purchasing process, the vendors were unable to deliver the product by the end of FY 2013-2014. Therefore, the Sheriff's Office is re-submitting these items for approval and purchase in the FY 2014-2015 prior to the adoption of the addenda in September 2014, and prior to any price increase.
Reason for Recommendation
Approval of this item will allow the Sheriff's Office to expend donated and general funds to purchase fixed asset items prior to the Budget being adopted in September 2014.
Clerk of the Board Follow Up Actions
Purchases will be made through the Procurement and Contract Department.
