Background: The Transportation Department's 2007 Five-year Capital Improvement Program (CIP) contains projects that will be advanced, expending funds, during the five-year period from fiscal year 2006/07 through and including fiscal year 2010/11. The 2007 CIP consists of more than 120 individual projects initiated to respond to one of the following programmatic issues: capacity expansion, road rehabilitation, operational and safety improvements, and erosion control. Over $500 million is planned for expending during these five years.

The Web-based CIP has been developed to provide El Dorado County residents and other interested parties with readily accessible, up-to-date information and status on the transportation projects currently in various phases of implementation (e.g., Project Approval and Environmental Document (PA&ED), Plans, Specifications and Estimates (PS&E), Right of Way Capital/Support (ROW), Construction Capital, and Construction Engineering (CE).

The Beta Web Page features the following:

A listing of all the CIP projects which contains the CIP project number, project name, date last updated, anticipated construction start date, total project cost, and a link to MS Live Maps™ which is a free MicroSoft web-based, state-of-the-art mapping application that doesn't require any software downloading.

The CIP project list may be sorted on any of the fields in ascending or descending order, and also includes links from either the project number or project name to a one-page Fact Sheet.

The Fact Sheet includes the following information: project name, CIP number, vicinity map, site photo, project milestone schedule, total estimated project cost, project status, date last updated, project contacts, Board of Supervisor district, Supervisor name and direct link to the Supervisor's Web page.

At the bottom of the Fact Sheet is a Feedback link for general comments regarding the web-based project information system.  Comments will be e-mailed to one of the development team members, and will be tracked and reported for follow-up and consideration for future enhancements.

The project information on the web-based fact sheet is linked to the Transportation Department's internal CIP database and is updated in real-time as the data fields in the CIP database are modified. The project managers have been directed to update their projects at least every 60 days, or when milestones change significantly.

Attached is a sample of the Fact Sheet for the U.S. 50/Missouri Flat Road Interchange - Phase 1A (CIP Project No. 71317).  At the Board meeting on August 21, the Director of Transportation will give a live demonstration of the DOT Beta Web Page.
