Body

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND

The Placerville Senior Center is operated by HHSA CS Area Agency on Aging with the purpose of supporting seniors, age 60 and over, to lead active, healthy, and socially connected lives by offering Senior Nutrition, Senior Legal Services, Family Caregiver Support Program, Information and Assistance, Senior Activities, Senior Travel, Senior Shuttle, Senior Health Education, Senior Transportation, Telephone Reassurance, and many volunteer opportunities.

On May 27, 2025, HHSA CS received notification from the Law Offices of Lawrence Solorio for the Trust of Bennett A. Parks Successor Trustee David S. Ngoseck regarding a partial distribution of $15,000 for a restricted donation to the Placerville Senior Center. On February 25, 2026, a second distribution from the trust was received in the amount of $1,785, for a combined total donation from the trust of $16,785. The donation is designated specifically for distribution to the Placerville Senior Center located at 937 Spring Street to support CS operations. These funds will help offset the costs of providing services, programs, and activities to County adults age 60 and over.

With Board approval, HHSA CS will gratefully accept this donation.

ALTERNATIVES

The Board could direct HHSA to decline the donation. Should the Board decline to approve this recommendation, HHSA would continue to provide required services to County adults age 60 or older in the community, however, would require more use of General Fund to support required activities.
