DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
Staff is providing this update to the Board of Supervisors (Board) in response to its request for additional information at the January 14, 2025 (File No. 25-0052), public workshop on the draft amendments to Chapter 130.39 of the Zoning Ordinance (Oak Resources Conservation). At the workshop, the Board requested staff provide a preliminary scope, schedule, and cost of adding additional amendments to Chapter 130.39 associated with potential exemptions for the 1) live oak trees and 2) roadside oak tree trimming/removal for wildfire prevention. The attached staff memo (Attachment A) includes the Board’s requested information and staffs’ recommendation to advance the draft amendments to Chapter 130.39 of the Zoning Ordinance for hearing by the Planning Commission and not pursue either exemption at this time.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
There is no change to Net County Cost associated with this item. Funding for the current Zoning Ordinance updates has been included in the Fiscal Year 2024-25 budget. Funding for services beyond FY 2024-25 will be included in subsequent budgets accordingly.
