Body

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND

The Library Department has completed the grant from the State Library for "Early Learning in the Neighborhood" and this funding opportunity extension through the El Dorado County Office of Education provides continued funding for this project.  The grant is on providing outreach and recruitment of Friend, Family, and Neighbor Caregivers in order to provide education, resources, mentoring, and support of the many caregivers that provide informal care in their homes.

This is the ninth year that First 5 El Dorado and/or the El Dorado County Office of Education has funded Early Childhood Literacy Specialists to visit Family Child Care Sites with the specific goal of coaching and mentoring.  This is an innovative program that uses library staff to partner with the El Dorado County Office and Education to support high quality child care in the County.
