Title

Supervisor Laine recommending the Board consider the following:

1) Receive and file an overview and conduct a site visit of points of interest within the Lake Tahoe Basin; and

2) Receive and file a presentation from Planning and Building, Tahoe Planning, Storm Water Management Program, on Public Works Infrastructure Asset Management System.

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND

On May 14, 2024, the Board will hold its regular meeting in South Lake Tahoe. The Board will conduct its regular business in the morning and in the afternoon will visit the following sites. Provided below is a brief overview on each:

1) Overview of Public Works Infrastructure Asset Management System:

Russ Wigart, Storm Water Coordinator will provide a presentation on storm water management in the Basin.

 

2) Overview of Tahoe Paradise Park - San Bernardino Class 1 Bike Trail Project:

The San Bernardino Class 1 Bike Trail Project (Project) constructed approximately 0.37 miles of Class 1 shared use path between the end of West San Bernardino Ave to Tahoe Paradise Park. The path crosses the Upper Truckee River and includes connections to Washoe Meadows State Park and Tahoe Paradise Park and the Lake Tahoe Environmental Science Magnet School in the community of Meyers in the Tahoe Basin.

The Project builds upon the Meyers Bikeway and provides a critical link to the bicycle network between the neighborhood on North Upper Truckee Road and the community of Meyers. The Project supports the Linking Tahoe: Active Transportation Plan, approved by the Tahoe Metropolitan Planning Organization in March 2016 and the Meyers Area Plan, approved in March 2018.

 

3) Overview of Shakori Maintenance Building:

Matt Moody, Maintenance Superintendent will lead a tour of the new maintenance building and the maintenance yard.

 

4) Overview of County Club Heights Erosion Control Project:

The Country Club Heights Erosion Control Project (Project) is a water quality improvement project addresses water quality and erosion problems primarily within the urbanized areas of Country Club Heights subdivision, in El Dorado County. The Project supports TRPA’s Environmental Improvement Program (EIP) through the design and installation of low impact Best Management Practices (BMPs).

The Project is located in south Lake Tahoe, north of Meyers, and is bounded by U.S. Highway 50 to the west, the Upper Truckee River to the north, Sky Line Drive to the south and east. The Project area is also located within TRPA designated Priority 2 Watershed 44 (Upper Truckee River).

 

Below is a schedule of the sites to be visited along with the approximate arrival times:

The Board will recess at 1:00 P.M. for lunch and then leave at 2:00 P.M. to visit sites in South Lake Tahoe at the locations identified below at the time specified or thereafter:

1) 1:00 pm - Lunch at 1901 Lisa Maloff Way

2) 1:15 pm - Supervisor Laine’s Overview on the locations to be visited this afternoon and Public Works Infrastructure Asset Management System Presentation (This will be an agenda item and taking public comment)
