DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
On August 23rd, 2021 Congressman McClintock sent a letter to Governor Newsom asking him to make a major disaster declaration for the Caldor Fire.
On September 17th, 2021 Congressman McClintock sent a letter to President Biden asking him to work with FEMA to approve individual assistance for those affected by the Caldor Fire.
On September 30th, 2021 the Board of Supervisors sent a letter to President Biden asking for individual assistance for El Dorado County victims of the Caldor Fire.
On October 4th, 2021 United States Senators Alex Padilla and Diane Feinstein sent a letter to FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell requesting individual assistance for the residents of El Dorado County affected by the Caldor Fire.
On October 8th, 2021 FEMA Acting Associate Administrator David Bibo denied individual assistance for the residents of El Dorado County affected by the Caldor Fire.
On October 25th, 2021 California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services Director Mark S. Ghilarducci sent an appeal of denial for individuals and households from El Dorado County.
On October 27th, 2021 United States Senators Alex Padilla and Diane Feinstein sent a letter to FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell requesting that the agency grant the State of California’s appeal for El Dorado County to be included in the major disaster declaration granted on September 12th, 2021, in particular individual assistance.
On November 12th, 2021 FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell denied the appeal made by California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services Director Mark S. Ghilarducci for individual assistance for those affected by the Caldor Fire.
On November 19th, 2021 Congressman McClintock sent a letter to President Biden asking him to reverse FEMA’s denial of Governor Newsom’s appeal for individual assistance for those affected by the Caldor Fire.
CONTACT
Due to the denial of FEMA individual assistance, many El Dorado County residents impacted by the Caldor Fire are unable to find housing and are homeless, and do not have the resources to rebuild.
