DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
The 2016-2017 Grand Jury published several individual Final Reports on various subjects during months of May and June, and the Board of Supervisors received the consolidated Final Report on June 23, 2017. Under the California Penal Code, sections 933 et. sec., the Board of Supervisors must provide a response to the Presiding Judge of the Superior Court within 90 days of the date that a Final Report is made available to the public. The attached draft responses have been prepared in the form prescribed by Penal Code section 933.05 and address the findings and recommendations of the Grand Jury which are under the jurisdiction of the Board of Supervisors.
The first individual Final Reports regarding inspections of the Placerville and South Lake Tahoe Jails were made public on May 9, 2017. The Initial Draft Responses to those reports were approved by the Board of Supervisors on July 25, 2017, with Final Responses approved and submitted to the Superior Court on August 8, 2017.
The Final Responses for the remaining four Reports, referenced above, are attached here for consideration and final approval. The remaining four Final Reports were issued at later dates and have a due date later in August. The Final Response to the 2016-2017 Grand Jury Report will be submitted to the Presiding Judge of the Superior Court on August 29, 2017, and will be published on the County's website.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
There is no direct financial impact related to the consideration of the Final Responses. There may be a financial impact related to implementation of Grand Jury Recommendations; however, such impact will be identified as staff assesses needs for future action, and will be discussed in future staff reports prior to approval and/or implementation.
