Body

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND

Tahoe PAWS trained team educates communities to be prepared to evacuate with their animals when an emergency or disaster happens. They respond during emergencies to support evacuations & work to provide shelter for our pets. Additionally, losing a pet is a real emergency. Tahoe PAWS is there to guide & support pet owners in knowing exactly what to do when your pet goes missing & what NOT to do. Tahoe PAWS specializes in tracking & trapping fearful dogs in survival mode.

A funding agreement is required in order for the County to process the payment to Tahoe PAWS.  Approval by the Board provides the finding that a public benefit is derived from supporting this endeavor, which seeks to provide search and rescue for missing/lost pets, provide education on disaster and evacuation preparedness, assist during evacuation, and provide temporary animal shelter during evacuation.

ALTERNATIVES
