Health and Human Services Agency recommending the Board approve and adopt the revised Board of Supervisors Policy F-2 “Animal Shelter Private Donor Recognition Policy,” attached hereto as Attachment A, to incorporate minor updates and extend the sunset review date.
FUNDING: Private Donations.
Body
DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND:
On October 1, 2013 (File 11-1440), the Board of Supervisors adopted current Policy F-2 “West Slope Animal Shelter Private Donor Recognition Policy,” establishing a “West Slope Animal Shelter Donor Fund” to be administered by the El Dorado Community Foundation as a subfund of People for Animal Welfare in El Dorado County.
On September 19, 2017 (File 17-0956), the Board of Supervisors adopted revised Policy F-2, expanding the geographic area to cover the entire County of El Dorado, and opening the process to accept donations and recognize private individuals or approved non-profit organizations that donate in support of the Animal Services Shelters via the naming of buildings, rooms, signs or plaques after the donor.
The current revisions, reflected in track changes in Attachment B, are necessary to incorporate minor updates and extend the sunset review date.
ALTERNATIVES:
The Board could decline to adopt revised Policy F-2, thereby eliminating the opportunity for individuals and nonprofits to donate to the County Animal Services Shelters and receive recognition for their donations.
