Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost:
This grant augmentation will provide $1,500,000 to the Erosion Control program and will be budgeted in FY 07/08. There is no cost to the County General Fund. The $1,500,000.00 will be utilized as follows: $1,099,542.29 from this grant Amendment will be used to fund portions of the construction of the Apalachee Phase 3A Project and $400,457.71 will be used to fund portions of the construction of the Apalachee Phase 3B Erosion Control Project.
Background:
The Apalachee 3 Project is the final two-phase Project of the Apalachee Erosion Control Project (Project). Planning for the entire Project was initiated in 2000 and Phase 1 construction began in the summer of 2004 and due to winterization was completed in the summer of 2005. Phase 2 construction began in the summer of 2005 and due to winterization was completed in the summer of 2006. Phase 2A construction began in the summer of 2006. Final design has been completed for Phase 3A, which was originally advertised for bids in July 2006. Unfortunately, no bids were received at that time. The Department re-advertised for bids in December 2006 and is recommending award of the construction contract for Phase 3A under a separate agenda item at this same Board meeting.
