DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
On August 13, 2019 (Item 6), the Board approved two (2) on-call Construction Service Agreements to provide various types of road surface treatments on County maintained roadways on the West and East Slope of the County on an as-needed basis as a result of a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) completed by Procurement and Contracts.
After the Agreements were fully-executed the Department of Transportation (Transportation) determined it would be beneficial and economical for micro-grinding specifications to be included in Exhibit A, Scope of Work. Micro-grinding will enhance the rideability on roadways prior to the application of a surface treatment. Both Amendments amend Exhibit A, Scope of Work, with no changes to the not-to-exceed amount or term on either contract.
ALTERNATIVES
The Board could choose not to approve the Amendments for each Contractor. This would prevent Transportation from using a micro-grind prior to completing surface treatments to increase the rideability of county roadways.
