DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
The Department of Transportation, Fleet Services (Transportation) has determined that the surplus property asset is no longer in use or needed by the department, as Fleet target mileage has been reached and the vehicle has been replaced. Transportation has requested that surplused item (list attached) be sold to Pioneer Fire Department for use by the Quick Response Teams who respond to emergencies.

Transportation has estimated that the Trailblazer has a value of $2,000 on based on Kelly Blue Book value.

The attached list of "surplus property" reflects an item that remains surplus to the needs of the County. The Purchasing Agent will sell said property in accordance with the Purchasing Ordinance as noted in Section 3.12.210 and Section 3.12.220 thereof by means of auction, direct sale, or donation. The sale of personal property to community organizations may be made in accordance with Government Code section 25365, and pursuant to a written agreement.

The Procurement and Contracts Division is recommending that the Board authorize the Purchasing Agent to sign the attached agreement entitled "Agreement for Sale Surplus Property #Pioneer Fire Department," and authorize the sale of surplus property in the amount of $2,000 to the Pioneer Fire Department.

ALTERNATIVES
Should the Board choose to not sell the item to the Pioneer Fire Department, it could determine to sell the surplus item at auction.
