DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
The results of the votes cast at the California Gubernatorial Recall Election held on September 14, 2021 were certified by the Registrar of Voter on October 8, 2021. The Election Department recommends the Board declare the results of the official canvass.
Election Code Section 15400 states that the governing Board shall declare the results of each election held under its jurisdiction.

Auditor will pay all voter center workers, community service organizations and facilities and other costs associated with the conduct of the September 14, 2021 election and the canvass.

Approve as recommended.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
No fiscal impact to the general fund. The election department submitted an estimate of $879,750 to the state for the cost of the election, on 08/11/21 the State made a deposit of $879,750. for such costs, any funds left over are to be used for conducting future elections.
