Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost:  None.  The equipment is valued at $3,141.13 and was paid for by the Sheriff's Posse of El Dorado County, a volunteer organization.
 
Background: The Sheriff's Posse of El Dorado County is a 501.3c charitable organization and is composed of a group of citizens in El Dorado County organized to raise funds to support Sheriff's officers and their families in times of need.  Sheriff's Posse members are not peace officers and are not sworn members of the Sheriff's Office.
 
Reason for Recommendation:  The Sheriff's Posse received a donation from one of its members to go toward the purchase of law enforcement equipment for the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Unit.  With the Sheriff's approval, the following equipment was purchased:
 
      1.  Protech Intruder Level IIIA Shield with light (#20354WL)
      2.  Protech Ballistic Shin Guards (2 pair)
 
Action to be taken following Board approval: The Sheriff's Office will work with the Auditor's Office to add the listed equipment to the Sheriff's inventory
