Body
DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDATION
The Sheriff's Office (SO) recommends the Board approve and authorize the Chair to sign Amendment I to Agreement 002-S1711.

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
When the El Dorado County Coroner investigates a homicide, a suspicious death, or a death from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, an autopsy needs to be conducted by a certified forensic pathologist in order to have credible evidence for a court proceeding or to comply with state protocols. El Dorado County does not employ a certified forensic pathologist, and as a result, the Sheriff’s Office has historically contracted with Sacramento County for these services.

On March 8, 2016, the SO entered into Agreement 002-S1711 with the County of Sacramento for autopsy, support, and morgue services with a term of July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2018 in an amount not to exceed $180,000.

This Amendment would add consulting services regarding design input and future equipment needs for the El Dorado County Public Safety Facility on an “as requested” basis. Sacramento County will be assisting in reviewing the design and specifying what equipment may be needed to operate El Dorado County’s future Morgue at the new Public Safety Facility. This requires an increase of $15,000 to cover the cost of the services. This Amendment also updates the Contract Administrator.
