DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
The Department of Transportation (DOT) and El Dorado County Transportation Commission (EDCTC) are preparing a grant application to request federal funding from the 2026 System Performance Program (SPP) provided by the Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) to support the proposed El Dorado Trail Weber Creek Trestle Bridge Restoration and Retrofit Project.

The SPP supports projects that improve how the transportation system functions day-to-day, including roadway and safety improvements, transit upgrades, EV charging, new bike and pedestrian connections, mobility hubs, and smart-transportation upgrades that help manage traffic and improve reliability. The SPP is provided through federal funding sources, specifically the Surface Transportation Block Grant Program (STBGP).

Part of the SPP application process is to submit an adopted resolution from the sponsoring agency authorizing participation in SACOG’s 2026 SPP, which is due with the final application by 4:00pm on September 18, 2026.
