Background
The Board is asked to appoint the position of Risk Manager to serve as the Primary Board Member to the California State Association of Counties - Excess Insurance Authority (CSAC-EIA). The County is a member of CSAC-EIA and participates in various excess insurance and health benefit programs including, but not limited to, general liability, workers' compensation, property, medical malpractice and health insurance benefits. The County's agreement with CSAC-EIA requires the appointment of a Primary Board Member from each county member organization.
Reason for Recommendation
It is to the County's advantage to appoint County staff to actively participate in the CSAC-EIA program in order to retain qualifying voting rights and act on CSAC-EIA agenda items.
Action(s) to be taken following Board approval
The Human Resources Department will forward a copy of the Board's minutes approving the Primary Board Member appointment to CSAC-EIA.
