DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
Supervisors Veerkamp and Turnboo are recommending the Board recognize CAL FIRE Amador El Dorado Unit Chief Mike Blankenheim upon his retirement after nearly 28 years of service.
Chief Blankenheim led CAL FIRE’s response to the Caldor Fire, the most devastating wildfire in El Dorado County’s history, and was instrumental in the creation of the El Dorado County Wildfire Preparedness and Resilience Coordination Group and the County’s Wildfire Strategy. His leadership fostered unprecedented growth in fire protection and prevention programs, including the Wildfire Resiliency Program, and strengthened partnerships across agencies and communities.
The Board is asked to approve and authorize the Chair to sign a Proclamation recognizing Chief Blankenheim’s outstanding service and congratulating him on his well-earned retirement.
