DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
Board Policy F-4: Lowering of Flags was originally adopted by the Board on October 22, 1991. It established the County's protocol for lowering flags at County facilities in recognition of significant events, individuals or observances. The policy ensures consistency and respect in how the County honors such occasions.
The policy includes a sunset clause requiring periodic review to ensure continued relevance and alignment with County practices. The current sunset date is set to expire in early 2026.
At this time, no changes to the policy content are being proposed. Extending the sunset date to January 6, 2030 will allow the policy to remain in effect without interruption.
ALTERNATIVES
The Board could decide to make changes to the current Board policies.
