DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
Under provisions of the CSAC Constitution, members of the Board of Directors and alternates are nominated by their respective Boards of Supervisors and appointed by the Executive Committee to a one-year terms of office commencing with the first day of the CSAC annual conference. Any member of the Board of Supervisors is eligible for the directorship. The new Board of Directors will meet at the annual conference, first by caucus (urban, suburban, and rural) to nominate CSAC officers and Executive Committee members, and again as a full Board to elect the 2020 Executive Committee and to conduct other business. Under the CSAC Constitution, Executive Committee members are elected from the membership of the Board of Directors.
CSAC recently contacted the Clerk of the Board and asked that the Board's appointment be made as soon as possible. Therefore, this item is being presented prior to the Board's annual selection of appointments to various Boards, Committees, and Commissions, which typically takes place during the first meeting of the calendar year.
Currently, Supervisor Novasel is the Board's Member and Supervisor Parlin is the Board's Alternate on CSAC. Supervisor Novasel has been the Member on CSAC since 2017 and Supervisor Parlin has been the Alternate since 2019.
ALTERNATIVES
The Board could select alternate Member's to represent the Board on CSAC.
PRIOR BOARD ACTION
Typically, at the first meeting each year the Board discusses it appointments to various Boards, Committees and Commission to allow each Board member the opportunity to serve on a variety of Boards, Committees and Commissions.
