DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND

The Parks and Recreation Commission intends to assemble a group of representatives from agencies that provide recreation facilities and programs in the County. Commissioners worked to make contact with each agency. The Advisory Committee will meet to discuss plans for new or expanded recreation facilities and programs, share ideas on collaboration to meet the public's needs, assess the Plan's implementation and financial plans, and identify which projects and needs the County should make its top priorities.

 

The following have committed to participating:

-                     Erik Taylor, State Parks

-                     Jeff Horn, Bureau of Land Management

-                     Elena DeLacy, American River Conservancy

-                     Kevin Loewen, EDHCSD

-                     Alena Jenkins, GDRD

-                     Jill Ritzman, CPCSD

-                     John Stark, City of South Lake Tahoe Parks and Recreation Director

-                     Matt Lishman, City of Placerville

-                     Katy Parr, Eldorado National Forest

-                     Emily Bertram, El Dorado Irrigation District

-                     Phil Jones, EDCOE

-                     Andy Fisher, Placer County

 

The El Dorado Transportation Commission has not yet committed to participation, but will be invited to participate in the first meeting:

 

At the October 19, 2023 meeting, the Commission appointed an ad hoc committee composed of Commissioner Pekar and Commissioner Cumpston to attend the meetings with the Advisory Committee (Legistar Item # 23-1872). Staff will coordinate the first meeting with all participants.
