Human Resources Department recommending the Board approve and adopt the revised Health and Human Services Agency department-specific class specification of Mental Health Worker I/II.

FUNDING:  N/A

Body

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND

After collaboration with the Behavioral Health Division of the Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA), the Human Resources Department (HR) has determined that it is necessary to update the Mental Health Worker I/II classification which was last revised in 2013.  HR performed a comprehensive analysis, and Behavioral Health assisted in identifying areas of clarification to better represent the utilization of this classification.  The class specification has been updated to represent the position’s required duties, maintain alignment with industry standards and comparator agencies, and remove language that is industrially outdated. These updates will enhance clarity and consistency in the classification specification, as well as ensuring alignment with current classification formatting standards.

ALTERNATIVES

The Board could choose not to approve the revised job classification and direct Human Resources to explore other options or revisions.
