Probation Department recommending the Board:
1) Approve and authorize the Chair to sign revenue Agreement 10357 with Mariposa County Probation Department to place youth of said county in the El Dorado County Juvenile Treatment Center in South Lake Tahoe on a space-available basis, for a term of three years following execution; and
2) Authorize the Chief Probation Officer, or designee, to execute further documents relating to revenue Agreement 10357, including amendments which do not increase the total compensation amount or term of the Agreement, and contingent upon approval by County Counsel.
FUNDING: Revenue received from Mariposa County from Inter-County Agreement.

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
El Dorado County Probation Department (El Dorado) has an established Juvenile Detention Facility at the South Lake Tahoe Juvenile Treatment Center (JTC) for the temporary or long-term commitment of youth detained in accordance with the provisions of the California Welfare and Institutions Code.
Mariposa County Probation Department (Mariposa) operates a special-purpose 96-hour juvenile detention facility. Youth requiring longer detentions are transferred to another county’s full-service youth facility. Mariposa desires to place youth of its Juvenile Court at the El Dorado JTC to the extent that accommodations exist. Rates payable to El Dorado are $350 per day per bed, $400 per day per bed for Commitment Programming, and $475 per day per bed for youth placed in the Secure Youth Treatment Facility Program.
ALTERNATIVES
The Board could choose not to approve the agreement, but this is a revenue-generating agreement that promotes goodwill and reciprocity of assistance between California’s probation departments.
