Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost:  None. The Livescan Special Revenue Fund funds 100% of all maintenance costs associated with Livescan fingerprinting equipment.

Background: The Sheriff's Office has been contracting with Identix for equipment maintenance since the inception of the Livescan Fingerprinting Program.  The State of California provided the original equipment and contract with Identix to provide maintenance to local jurisdictions.  Vehicle registration fees are the funding source for the Livescan Special Revenue Fund and the fund is overseen by the Cal ID Remote Access Network (RAN) Board.  Sufficient funding is available in the Livescan Special Revenue Fund to cover these costs in Fiscal Year 2012/13, and the Cal ID RAN Board approved the use of these Special Revenue Funds for this purpose at their May 7, 2012, meeting.

Reason for Recommendation:  Approval of this recommendation will ensure the Livescan equipment operated throughout El Dorado County is maintained and operable.

Action to be taken following Board approval:  The Chair will sign the Agreement and Sheriff's Office staff will work with Procurements and Contracts to set up the encumbrance in FY 2012/13.
