DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND:
The County of El Dorado Animal Services is named as a beneficiary of the Valerie E. Kimura Trust, dated March 12, 1992, as amended and restated December 29, 2016 (Trust). On November 29, 2021, the Health and Human Services Agency was notified of an initial distribution of $25,086.55 that was issued to the County of El Dorado Animal Services from the Trust. If the distribution is accepted by the Board of Supervisors, the funds will be deposited into Animal Services’ Shelter Pet Aid Fund.

A reserve of $10,000 is being held by the Trustee for any final taxes, expenses including attorney’s fees, liabilities and costs arising from the Trust. When the Trustee is certain that all estate and trust expenses have been paid in full, the Trustee shall distribute any remaining money to the beneficiaries pursuant to the terms of the Trust. Animal Services may receive an additional nominal final distribution, thereafter.

The County of El Dorado Pet Aid Fund was developed in 1993 as a way for donated monies to be used to help pay for emergency and routine veterinary services, special food, medication, blankets, and like matters to care for animals awaiting adoption at the Animal Shelter.
