DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
Residents of Grizzly Flats had been working towards creating a Grizzly Flats Community Center before the devastation of the Caldor Fire. Since the rebuilding of Grizzly Flats began, the community members have generated a renewed effort to provide a Grizzly Flats Community Center. The residents believe the need of a community center is greater than before the Caldor Fire, as it would provide a meeting place for otherwise impacted residents who feel that their sense of community was lost.
El Dorado County Parks Division would best manage the property on behalf of El Dorado County, and delegate management responsibilities to South County Alliance and interested community groups.
ALTERNATIVES
Grizzly Flats community remains without a Community Center as a gathering place.
