Title

Sheriff's Office recommending the Board approve and authorize the Chair to sign a universal Governing Body Resolution 189-2018 for federal Department of Homeland Security grants sub-granted through the California Governor's Office of Emergency Services (CalOES).

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND

Cal OES requires that an universal resolution (by title and not name) be on file from public agency governing bodies authorizing its agents to execute for and on behalf of that public agency applications for federal grant funds.  The Governing Body Resolution will be required to be brought back to Board 3-years from the date of execution.

 

ALTERNATIVES

Failure to provide this resolution to the State would require that the Sheriff's Office submit a resolution for each individual grant application, rather than using this one-time resolution on file with the State.

OTHER DEPARTMENT / AGENCY INVOLVEMENT

County Counsel approved the resolution.

Approve as recommended.

 

FINANCIAL IMPACT

There is no Net County Cost associated with this item.  The grant funding is from the federal government and is sub-granted through the state.
