Body
DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
The Department of Transportation (Transportation) faces increasing challenges in running day-to-day operations, an ever-increasing volume of work, and difficulty finding willing and qualified candidates for open positions. The proposed addition of 1.0 FTE Administrative Technician allocation in the Fairlane Engineering Unit will allow for more balanced responsibilities and improve efficiencies in the administration team. This will allow the team the flexibility to perform additional duties as needed within each classification. Transportation has worked closely with Human Resources, Fiscal, and the Chief Administrative Office to improve the organizational structure, find efficiencies and fill department needs. Transportation currently has 2.0 FTE vacant right of way classifications and they have historically been difficult to fill. The requested deletion of the vacant Associate Right of Way Agent position is to appropriately balance Transportation’s budget. Transportation’s need for right of way staff has also decreased and there is no longer a need for 2.0 FTE right of way classifications.
