Background
El Dorado County recently conducted a recruitment for the position of Chief Probation Officer.  In conjunction with the Superior Court Judges, the County is in the process of conducting final interviews and pre-employment background checks of the most qualified candidates in order to make an offer of employment.

Reason for Recommendation
The current salary range for the Chief Probation Officer is  $9,051.46 - $11,001.46 per month.  The proposed salary range is $9,878.00 - $12,006.00.

The average, top range salary, for the position of Chief Probation Officer for comparable counties is $12,352.00.  As with many of the positions within the County, the base rate for the position of Chief Probation Officer is below market for the same classification.
An adjustment to the existing salary range is necessary in order to attract the most skilled and qualified applicants to the County in order to best serve the citizens of El Dorado County.

Action(s) to be taken following Board approval
Human Resources will implement the changes.
