Community Development Services, Department of Transportation, recommending the Board:
1) Approve and authorize the Director of Transportation to sign Amendment 1 to State of California Standard Agreement 17R245000 between the County and the State Department of California Highway Patrol to update the Scope of Work to allow for any traffic control related services requested and not just construction projects, with no change to the term or the not to exceed amount of the Agreement; and
2) Authorize the Director of Transportation to execute any future Amendments that do not increase the dollar amount or change the term of the Agreement.

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
The Department of Transportation (Transportation) currently has an Agreement with the California Highway Patrol for traffic control related services. The Scope of Work specifically states "traffic control related services for various County construction projects within the vicinity of El Dorado County". There are occasions where Transportation needs traffic control related services that are not in conjunction with a construction project. Therefore, Transportation is requesting an amendment to update the Scope of Work to remove the reference to "construction projects". There are no other changes to the Agreement.
ALTERNATIVES
The Board could choose to not approve this Amendment but then Transportation would not be able to utilize CHP for traffic control services for anything other than construction related projects.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
There is no financial impact with this agenda item. The costs associated with this Agreement have been included in the current fiscal year budget and will be included in future fiscal year budgets for the term of the agreement.
