Body

DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND

This presentation is a summary of the Board of Supervisor’s direction received in response to Staff’s presentation on the Cost Recovery Project as well as an update to the Parks Commission on the current status of this project. This project aims to ensure the long-term viability of our parks system and establish a financially sustainable approach that is equitable and responsible. The now approved cost recovery model is the core of this approach and intends to balance public benefit with fiscal responsibility. The Division has set cost recovery targets based on service categories, demand, equity, and operational costs. This financial sustainability strategy will ensure that El Dorado County's parks and trails will remain well-maintained, accessible, and financially resilient for generations to come.
