Reason for Recommendation:
On October 14, 2008 the Board authorized the Transportation Department (Department) to participate in the Lake Tahoe Basin 2008/2009 Federal and State Grant Programs. The Department is requesting site improvement grant funding from the California Tahoe Conservancy (CTC) for the Christmas Valley 2 Erosion Control Project and Sawmill 2 Bike Path Project in the Tahoe Basin. Before the CTC Governing Board will approve the Department's final site improvement grant applications, the Board must adopt a Resolution demonstrating its commitment to the projects and the objectives and assurances of the CTC and United States Forest Service (USFS), Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit (LTBMU) Soil Erosion Control Grants Program and the CTC's Public Access and Recreation Program.
Upon approval by the Board, the Department will submit the Resolution to the CTC for these two projects. If the CTC Governing Board approves the Department’s site improvement grant request, the County will need to enter into separate grant agreements with the CTC for the projects.
