Within State gaming compacts with various Tribes, the State collects a percentage from gaming operations for the specific purpose of mitigating most any impact created by Indian Casinos. Each jurisdiction affected by Indian Gaming is credited money annually that is additional from any other MOU.
On April 12, 2011, (File #11-0381) the Board of Supervisors approved the both the establishment of and the Board's participation in an Indian Gaming Local Community Benefit Committee. The Board then approved the appointment of Supervisors Briggs and Sweeney to this Committee.
The County of El Dorado has been appropriated $51,593.68 from the Indian Gaming Special Distribution Funds to be distributed by the Indian Gaming Local Community Benefit Committee pursuant to the application policies and procedures defined within State Government Code Section 12715 (g).
The City of Placerville has appointed City Councilwoman Wendy Mattson, and the Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians has appointed Kim Stock and Sam Daniels, respectively, as their representatives to the Committee.

Government Code Section 12715 (b)(1) provides direction for the establishment of Indian Gaming Local Community Benefit Committees ("The Committee") to select proposals to receive grant funds from the Indian Gaming Special Distribution Fund. The Government Code establishes application policies and procedures for the grant selection process; specified priorities and requirements for funding eligibility; and the composition of The Committee.
