Fiscal Impact/Change to Net County Cost:Mental Health will apply to receive an additional allocation of $637,949 annually, effective for Fiscal Year 07/08. There is no Change to Net County Cost.
Background: California voters approved the Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) in November, 2004. MHSA has provided a new funding source to expand mental health services for the seriously mentally ill. El Dorado County's plan was approved by the California Department of Mental Health in April, 2006. Five MHSA programs have been implemented in El Dorado County and are currently serving a variety of previously unmet needs in the area of mental health.
Reason for Recommendation:The Mental Health Department will be eligible to receive an additional $637,949 annually beginning in FY 07/08 to expand the current MHSA programs. These additional funds will allow for expansion of the MHSA programs and to sufficiently fund the administration of MHSA programs.
Action to be taken following Board approval:Mental Health Department to submit application for additional funds from the California Department of Mental Health.
