DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
To honor the remarkable legacy of Normadene Carpenter, whose dedication to the cultural life of our community spanned four decades, Arts and Culture El Dorado inaugurated the Normadene Carpenter Award in her honor in 2017. The award recognizes extraordinary achievement and passion for service. This year, the honor goes to Bill Roby, Executive Director of El Dorado Community Foundation. The event will take place on Thursday, June 2, at David Girard Vineyards.
As the Executive Director of the Foundation, Bill has worked tirelessly for over 15 years to bring support to individuals and organizations when they need it most, and last year, during the Caldor Fire, he went beyond the call of duty. He immediately gathered his staff and organized aid to anyone affected by this disaster, ensuring that the true meaning of “community” in the Foundation’s name rang true. This was in addition to his usual duties, assisting generous patrons make decisions about directing their support, building the Foundation’s grant programs, and developing targeted initiatives in South Lake Tahoe and on the Western Slope.
Bill has also ensured that El Dorado Community Foundation is held to the highest standards as an accredited Community Foundation, committed to financial security, transparency, and accountability.
The Board of Supervisors recognizes and congratulates Bill Roby on receiving the 2022 Normadene Carpenter Award.
