DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
The Sheriff’s Office and the Probation Department have had an agreement with Frasier Group Investigations (FGI) for the past three years to provide “as-needed” pre-employment background investigative services. Prior to that, we have had contracts since 2014 with a vendor whose business FGI took over after the death of its owner.

Conducting backgrounds for potential law enforcement personnel is a very labor intensive process. The Sheriff's Office and Probation conduct extensive reviews on the backgrounds of potential employees to ensure El Dorado County is hiring reliable and trustworthy individuals of integrity and skill. Both the Sheriff’s Office and Probation Department have seen an increase in background investigations services needed for recruitment of qualified individuals due to an increase in vacancies.

Board approval is being sought due to the not-to-exceed amount of the contract exceeding the Purchasing Agent's signatory authority.
