Body
DISCUSSION / BACKGROUND
The Human Resources Department, through collaboration with the Department of Information Technologies, agrees that the current Chief Information Security Officer classification should include privacy officer duties to oversee use of personal information and how it is collected, used, managed, and protected. Both privacy and security regulations now require procedures and technical controls that provide evidence that the County is complying with the regulations. As such, the class specification has been updated to better reflect the duties and responsibilities to be consistent with industry standards.
ALTERNATIVES
The Board could choose not to adopt the revised class specification and direct Human Resources to conduct further analysis.
